Space Defender

Each question is one wave. A meteor carrying each answer flies toward the planet, and the student taps the right one so the cannon blasts it. Wrong picks and meteors that get through crack the planet's shield.

Space Defender game screen: Blast the meteor carrying the right answer before it hits your planet.

How to play Space Defender

  1. Press Play and the first wave of meteors appears.
  2. Read the question and tap the meteor with the right answer, or press 1 to 4, A to D, or T and F.
  3. Answer before the wave reaches the planet, then get ready for the next one.

Right and wrong answers

A right answer blasts the meteor. A wrong pick fizzles and cracks the shield, and a wave that reaches the planet first also cracks it and leaves that question unanswered, so speed matters as well as accuracy.

Levels and classroom ideas

Best from A2 to B2, once students read quickly enough to beat the wave. Use slower, simpler sets with younger learners.

Space Defender: questions teachers ask

What happens if a student does not answer in time?

The wave reaches the planet and cracks the shield, and that question is left unanswered rather than marked wrong.

How many questions are in a game?

Between 5 and 20, with 10 by default. Each question is one wave.

How long can questions and answers be?

Up to 80 characters per question and 20 per answer, so each answer fits on its meteor.
